Professor Kanchana Kanchanasut and Dr. Adisorn Lertsinsrubtavee of intERLab recently attended the 59th Asia-Pacific Advanced Network (APAN) meeting in Yokohama, March 3-7.

This premier gathering, APAN 59, served as a vital platform for researchers, educators, and technologists across the Asia-Pacific region. The event focused on cutting-edge topics like high-speed networking, cloud computing, and cybersecurity, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Dr. Adisorn presented intERLab’s collaborative research on PM 2.5 exposure among urban delivery workers (food delivery, ride-sharing, construction) and street food vendors, highlighting dangerously high pollution levels which exceed the safe limits and the need for health risk assessments and medical checkups. This research was presented at the Disaster and Mitigation Working Group, and is conducted in collaboration with intERLab, Asian Institute of Technology, University of Washington, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, and Thammasat University.

Dr. Adisorn also demonstrated how low-cost sensors can provide more accurate, real-time pollution data compared to static monitoring stations, despite expected variations.
