Synopsis:
This workshop focuses on router configuration and configuration of interior and exterior gateway routing protocols. Basic network infrastructure design principles are also presented for understanding and to encourage best practice.

The course also includes considerable practical work based on IPv4 as well as IPv6 and IOS router configuration commands.

Who should attend?
The course is targeted at engineers and network administrators from both ISPs and SOHO/enterprise networks.

Pre-requisites:
It is assumed that participants have a basic understanding of network operations and Internet technologies.

Course Outline:

Routing essentials introduction
Routing principles
IP addressing
Network planning essentials
2 Byte and 4 Byte AS Numbers
Router configuration
Basic OSPF operation
Basic BGP operation

Other requirements:
It is highly recommended that participants bring their own laptop computers (At least Pentium 4, 1gb Ram, DVD drive, with administrative access to system) to practice the lessons learned during the workshops. Please note:

Biography of instructor

Sheryl Hermoso, has had various roles as a Network and Systems Administrator prior to joining APNIC. Starting her career as a Technical Support Assistant while studying at the University of the Philippines. Sheryl later finished her degree in Computer Engineering and continued to work in the same university as a Network Engineer, where she managed the DILNET network backbone and wireless infrastructure.

Areas of interest: Wireless/wifi, DNS/DNSSEC, IPv6, and security
