Course description:

The Internet resource management essentials course (IRM E) is a one-day course designed for Internet professionals. It is aimed particularly at those responsible for administering and managing Internet resources, including IP managers, senior hostmasters and network engineers. Some understanding of networking fundamentals is assumed. The course includes modules selected from both the IRM I and IRM II courses outlined above, and is tailored to meet the needs of a targeted audience.

Objectives:

To assists current / prospective APNIC members and other interested parties to request internet resources (IP address, ASN, reverse DNS delegation) the easy way. And also to keep them up-to-date and familiar with the latest policies and procedures.

Who should attend?

Technical personnel who are responsible for allocating and/or assigning IP addresses such as hostmaster employees of network information centers or ISPs, network planners, designers, and network engineers or other interested persons are welcome to attend the Training.

  • MyAPNIC / Data privacy
  • How to request IP addresses
  • Reverse DNS Delegation procedures

Biography of instructor:

miwa_fujii Miwa Fujii (APNIC Training, Research and Development Officer):
Miwa has served as an APNIC trainer since 2002. During this period she has provided Internet resource management education and training to many people,countries and regions in the Asia Pacific. Miwa has developed and delivered, with her colleagues, raining programs on IPv6, Internet security, and Internet Routing Registry, among other topics.

Before joining the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC), Miwa worked at IBM Australia as operations manager, them leader and trainer for the IBM Asia Pacific Technical Support Centre. Previously, she served various organisations as a LAN administrator, including Jardine Fleming Securities and Warburg Investment Management. Miwa was educated in Japan and Australia and holds a master degree in eCommerce.
 
champika_wijayatunga Champika Wijayatunga is a Senior Training Specialist at the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC), the Regional Internet Registry for Asia Pacific. He is responsible for development and delivery of regular face-to-face training and technical workshops for the APNIC region.

His areas of interest includes Internet Resource Management, DNS, Security, Routing & IPv6. Prior to APNIC he worked as a Software Systems Specialist, Systems Engineer, an Instructor at IBM Corporation (IBM Sri Lanka) and as a Research Associate at the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand. Champika is currently based in Brisbane, Australia and has a Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering and a Masters degree in Computer Science & Engineering.
