Course description:
This workshop aims to provide an understanding of the IPv6 protocol
structure, address architecture, IPv6 operation and technical features,
transition mechanisms and their challenges. IPv6 policy and allocation
criteria will also be covered, and the current IPv6 deployment status
will be discussed.
In addition, IPv6 router configuration and the configuration and
operation of an IPv6 network will be demonstrated.
Who should attend?
Anyone interested in learning about IPv6, as well of those involved in
IPv6 deployment, transition and configuration will benefit from this
workshop.

Prerequisite:
Good knowledge of IPv4 addressing, network operations as well as
knowledge of DNS, Routing with both IGP and BGP. It is important that
students have good prior knowledge of operations in IPv4 in order for
them to attend this workshop.
Biography of instructor:
Miwa Fujii (APNIC Training, Research and Development Officer):
Miwa has served as an APNIC trainer since 2002. During this period she has provided Internet resource management education and training to many people,countries and regions in the Asia Pacific. Miwa has developed and delivered, with her colleagues, raining programs on IPv6, Internet security, and Internet Routing Registry, among other topics.
Before joining the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC), Miwa worked at IBM Australia as operations manager, them leader and trainer for the IBM Asia Pacific Technical Support Centre. Previously, she served various organisations as a LAN administrator, including Jardine Fleming Securities and Warburg Investment Management. Miwa was educated in Japan and Australia and holds a master degree in eCommerce.

Champika Wijayatunga is a Senior Training Specialist at the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC), the Regional Internet Registry for Asia Pacific. He is responsible for development and delivery of regular face-to-face training and technical workshops for the APNIC region.
His areas of interest includes Internet Resource Management, DNS, Security, Routing & IPv6. Prior to APNIC he worked as a Software Systems Specialist, Systems Engineer, an Instructor at IBM Corporation (IBM Sri Lanka) and as a Research Associate at the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand. Champika is currently based in Brisbane, Australia and has a Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering and a Masters degree in Computer Science & Engineering. |
