The TEIN2 Workshop is targeted at bringing network operation personnel
from the TEIN2 beneficiary countries together and to bring them all to
the level qualified for the operation and management of TEIN2 networks.
From our successful Kick-Off Workshop held in September 2005, we are
convinced that such a face-to-face with hands-on practical sessions is
strongly recommended to be held annually.
Among the TEIN2 technical NOC teams, we categorize the personnel into 3
categories: Junior Engineers (Group A), Senior Engineers or Network
Administrators (Group B) and Technical Managers (Group C).
Group A: |
Junior engineers who will be trained to perform basic configuring functions for the Internet routing, use network monitoring tools and be able to perform trouble shooting. |
|
Pre-requisite: Basic concept of TCP/IP |
|
|
Group B: |
Senior engineers or operation managers who will be trained on advanced or policy based routing and to perform network performance measurement, use the network monitoring tools and to be able to perform necessary trouble shooting. |
|
Pre-requisite: Knowledge of how to operate a router |
|
|
Group C: |
Technical managers who are in charge of the network operation. They need to be updated with new/emerging technologies, new applications and users' requirements. |
|
Pre-requisite: General knowledge of networking technologies with decision making responsibilities |
A 5-day workshop, face-to-face meeting -- with hands-on practical sessions, organized by intERLab/AIT, for Senior NOC Engineers (Group B), specifically TEIN2 network operation only, will be held on 4-8 September 2006 at Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand. The contents are as follows:
- Performance and Monitoring
- Trouble Shooting
- Emergency Response
- Multicasting and IPv6
