To enable participants to understand a typical enterprise minimum security requirements, to secure configurations of network devices and to setup VPN and IPsec VPNS.

Course Contents
The course consists of both lecture to provide the understanding of each of
the topic areas and a hands on lab to do the configuration of each of the
areas covered.
- Understanding a typical enterprise minimum security requirements
- Secure configurations of IOS and PIX devices
- Enabling remote adminstration, authentication and login policies including
AAA
- IOS Firewall services
- Automated Security features
- Syslog
- IOS IPS
- VPN and IPsec VPNS
- VPN concentrator and remote users
Prerequisite
Basic knowledge of Network Operation and familiar with CISCO router

Biography of instructor:
Hank Mauldin:
Hank Mauldin is a corporate consulting engineer for Cisco Systems. He has
worked with Cisco for more than 10 years evaluating and designing data
networks. Areas of expertise include IP routing protocols, quality of
service and security, in general. The last several years Hank has been
working extensively in the security area. Prior to joining Cisco, he
worked for several different system integrators, and has more than 20 years
of data networking experience. Hank holds a master's degree in information
system technology from George Washington University.
Laura Kuiper:
Laura has been working in the industry on network operations, architecture
and design for over 15 years, with the last five being focused on security
operations and security architecture. Ms. Kuiper currently works within the
Consulting Engineering Security team, working on delivering security
solutions for customers and the industry as a whole. Prior to her current
role she worked as part of Cisco's Information Security Department
(Infosec), and before that she was part of Cisco's Network Operations and
Design Group (NetOps). Her experience with Cisco's Infosec and Netops
teams included design and architecture of network and application
infrastructure that included security as an integral part of the design.
